PHYSICAL, BEHAVIOURAL AND EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS

Unlike the Western approach to medicine, the Chinese see our physical, behavioural and emotional 'bodies' as being inter-connected; imbalance in one is almost always related to imbalance in the other two.

For example, the Chinese philosophy would observe the correlation between tennis elbow (the Physical body) with a period of grief (the Emotional body) and the inability to let go of physical things, as would be seen in hoarding or cluttering (the Behavioural body).  These imbalances would be seen as imbalances in the Metal Element, involving the Large Intestine and Lung meridians (see FIVE ELEMENT CONNECTIONS).  Whereas in the West we would just treat the physical manifestation of the tennis elbow, in the Chinese philosophy, Qi imbalance in the Large Intestine and Lung meridians would also be addressed to resolve not only the physical condition but also the emotional and behavioural aspects too.
